QuikRaser

Since 1858, the pencil has remained fundamentally unchanged…

… yet it’s not perfect.

Whether made from simple graphite and wood, or engineered into an intricate mechanical pencil with fancy features, the fundamental user experience of a pencil with an eraser has remained unchanged for over 160 years.

However, when drawing or writing deepens into a focused flow state, even something as seemingly trivial as stopping to flip your pencil over to erase stray marks becomes cumbersome and disruptive.

Refilling the lead or sharpening the graphite are still further distractions that plague all pencils and encumber focus and flow.

Quikraser

Quikraser is the first real evolution of how a pencil and intergrated eraser are used.

Quikraser makes marking and erasing feel more like “edit > undo” does on a computer in terms of immediacy. With the eraser relocated directly beside and slightly behind the graphite, Quickraser allows for instant, uniterrupted corrections simply by pushing the eraser barrel past the graphite tip with a finger. This motion takes a fraction of the time and energy as compared to flipping a pencil end-over-end, and helps sustain focus and speed during a workflow. When finished, the same finger retracts the eraser, and writing or drawing continues.

Additionally, with the eraser repositioned beside the marking end, the opposite side of Quikraser features a super-fast refilling system whereby lead can be simply dropped into a conical, funneled opening without the need to remove a cap or open a cavity. Clicking this cap advances the lead.

The eraser chamber contains up to three erasers that can replace the worn one. By opting against any kind of click-to-advance mechanism for the eraser, the overall diameter of Quikraser remains well within ergonomically sound dimensions - a comfortable 16mm.
