Divan to Divaan: Easing the transition from resting to sleeping on a sofa.
What’s more dreadful than converting a sofa into a bed while half asleep because the sofa is too small to comfortably sleep on in the first place?
Divaan eliminates the ordeal of getting up, unfolding, opening, pulling out, or otherwise transforming a sofa into a bed when all you need is just a little extra space.
Divaan requires nothing more than the natural movement of stretching your body to push the armrests apart, adding just the right amount of extra space to a two-seat sofa.
Doing so slides the two seats outwards and deploys a spring-loaded center cushion up into the middle, instantly creating a full-length sleeping space with almost no effort.
The simplicity of Divaan’s functionality was initially inspired by the natural instinct to push a cramped sofa or loveseat apart when trying to sleep. The user experience is then designed around that simple, instinctive movement.
To maintain an even surface between the two seats once they are apart, a spring-loaded center cushion deploys up into the middle and “locks” into place with a swiveling panel that also fills in the gap left beneath the middle section. Resetting Divaan to a two-seat sofa involves pushing the center back down and pulling one of the seats inwards to retract both sides.
